WINNER of RAI and Marsh Short Film Prize at the RAI Film Festival 2019.

A visually dazzling and tender “intergalactic ethnography” that takes us boldly where no visual anthropologist has gone before – deep into the world of Eve Online.

In this online video game, enthusiastic players mine, trade and fight amongst stunning virtual space-scapes. Are these players isolated and lonely? Far from it. This film demonstrates the deeply social nature of contemporary gameplay. Eve Online is a “massive multiplayer game” that brings thousands of people together, from all over planet Earth. The population of Eve Online speak to each other, co-operate, and build very real friendships that enrich their daily lives.

In this inventive short film, we do not see the players, we just hear their voices. This replicates the experience of the game. The virtual game world occupies the screen, and we hear the experiences of fourteen players from around the globe, told in their own voices.

A warm, charming and insightful portrait of a community forged in a very 21st century social space.
