For years, the history for African Americans has always be centered around slavery. During the North Atlantic slave trade, 12.5 million Africans were brought to America, and with them a deep and rich culture, heritage, and spirituality. Through means of control and psychological manipulation, Africans were forced to abandon their spirituality and culture by their owners. Since then there has been a lack of cultural awareness to the traditions and spirituality of African Americans.
‘Cultural Amnesia,’ is a documentary centered around answering the questions many African
Americans have about their culture, their heritage, and their spirituality. This film reconnects African Americans with the homeland they were so brutal stolen away from and the deep, powerful spirituality that was taken from them.
